Dr. James T Willerson, A dedication!
A Houston Medical Icon who was very well known both nationally and internationally in the field of Cardiology passed away at the age of 81. He was the former President of UT Medical School and American Heart Association. As the President of the Texas Heart Institute, He lead the innovative First Trial on use of Human stem cell research in Congestive Heart Failure and Ischemic Cardiomyopathy.
He was an incredible scientist credited with over 1000 scientific articles in major journals and also the longest serving Editor in Chief of Circulation and authoring/co-authoring 27 text books.
An outstanding clinician, legendary leader with a phenomenal work ethic, he was also a wise Mentor and a great role model. His passing is a tremendous loss to the medical community but his legacy will live forever celebrating his innumerable accomplishments.
