Witnessing a Historic Moment at the White House !
On June 22, History was created when President Biden welcomed Indian PM Modi along with specially invited 3000 Americans of Indian Origin who attended the Welcome ceremony in the South Lawn of the White House. Penn Masala from UPenn did a rendition of SRKs Bollywood “ Chaiyya, Chaiyya” from the steps of the White House .The Warm Welcome began with the National Anthem of India followed by the US National Anthem followed by a 19 Gun Salute amid Screaming Cheers of “ Modi , Modi, Modi “ from the gathered Indian Diaspora . Standing in the First row in the Central Section, I almost lost my voice cheering Modi ,Modi ,Modi !!!Vande Mataram!!! Bharat Mata ki Jai !!!that had begun more than two and a half hours before his arrival . President Biden in his welcome address for PM Modi emphasized by stating “ I have long believed that the relationship between the US and India will be one of the most defining relationships of the 21st Century “. The two Presidents discussed how much the two democracies have in common including the first three words in both their constitutions “ We the People “ . PM Modi thanked President Biden from his heart on behalf of 1.4 Billion People for the unprecedented warm welcome he received.
Modi ‘s concluding heartfelt statement “ I along with the 1.4 billion people of India wish that India’s Tricolor and America’s Stars and Stripes keep flying higher and higher. Jai Hind !!! God Bless America “ received unending claps amid Modi , Modi , Modi Cheers that felt lasted almost eternity. Later same evening, History was also created as PM Modi became only the second Head of a Government ( Winston Churchill being the first ) who addressed the Joint Session of the House and US Senate a second time. Modi received Standing Ovation there also with amazing Bipartisan Support in his address to the Joint Session. PM Modi gifted President Biden a T-shirt printed with “ The Future is AI : America and India “ with tremendous applause and cheers . President Biden and Dr Jill Biden also held a State Dinner in honor of PM Modi on June 22nd evening for 400 Guests who were all served Vegetarian Meals( again a White House First ) as PM Modi is a Vegetarian. During PM Modi’s visit , both Governments signed record number of partnerships enhancing Trade , Military Technology exchange , Information Technology, Healthcare, Education , Environmental and Cultural Partnership dawning a new era of US India Partnership that will define the trajectory of the two great economies and the entire World for decades to come . Proud Moment for all Americans of Indian Origin for the Love and Respect given to PM Modi during this Historic Visit Blessed to be part of this History .
