Earth Day is an annual event on April 22 to demonstrate support for environmental protection. First held on April 22, 1970, it now includes a wide range of events coordinated globally by EARTHDAY.ORG. It is the largest secular observance in the world celebrated by 193 countries .
The theme for Earth Day 2024 is Planet vs. Plastics, a commitment to call for the end of plastics "for the sake of human and planetary health." The theme's proposed goal is to reduce the production of plastics by 60% in 2040 and ultimately build a plastic-free future.
Earth day calls for action both big and small 24/7 at an individual and collective level. Let’s ALL do our personal best to save our Mother Earth. We may do so by Simple measures like recycling, planting trees, conservation of water, facilitating to carbon neutral measures ( net-zero) and reducing dependence on plastic.
